Scribd was founded by Trip Adler, Jared Fried, and Tikhon Bernstam in March 2007. It was launched as the world’s first open publishing platform, allowing anyone to quickly & easily share ideas with the world. In October 2014, Scribd introduced its reading subscription service, which provides readers with monthly access to books – all for one flat fee.
Scribd’s e-book subscription service gives users access to unlimited books monthly from 1,000+ publishers such as HarperCollins, Bloomsbury, Harlequin, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Lonely Planet, MacMillian, Perseus Book Group, Simon & Schuster, Wiley Worman and many more.
Scribd’s subscription service is available on Android & iOS smartphones & tablets, as well as the Kindle Fire, Nook, & personal computers. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Scribd is often referred to as “The Netflix for Books”, with 80 million users.

Scribd added audiobooks to its reading subscription service in November 2014. Scribd audiobook library contains over 150,000 titles.

In December 2015, Scribd incorporates sheet music into its subscription service, giving users unprecedented digital access to compositions from the world’s top composers.
Scribd gives users access to magazines from the world’s leading publishers such as TIME, Bloomberg, Entrepreneur, Fast Company, Newsweek, Men’s Health, Harper’s magazine, The Atlantic, and many more. The Scribd magazine service was launched in November 2016 and now has over 1,000 premium magazine titles on the platform.

Scribd Original was launched in April 2019 as a service to content readers with exclusive content from bestselling authors.
I am a super fan of the Scribd platform as it gives me access to unlimited e-books, audiobooks, podcasts, and loads of learning materials.
